Job Summary
Employees interested in participating in the 2009 Promotional Process for the rank of Fire Engineer will be required to submit an online application.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years continuous service as a full time Firefighter with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services immediately prior to May 1, 2009
Other Requirements
- Must have passed the end-of-course test for the National Fire Academy class, entitled, Fire Service Supervision: A Self-Study Course prior to the date of the job knowledge test
- Must have successfully passed the Driver Pre-Qualification Exam or successfully completed the Department’s EVOC prior to the date of the job knowledge test
Supplemental Information
- The examination process will consist of a written examination, pump test and an assessment center.
- The final score is determined by adding together the weighted scores from the job knowledge test, the pump test and the assessment center. (The written exam score will be weighted at 30%.)
Job Knowledge Test
- Dates: January 6 & 7, 2009 (6:00pm) @ Cobb County Civic Center
- Candidate Orientation Dates: December 16 & 17, 2008 (8:30am) @ Public Safety Training Center
- Pump test dates: February 9th through 20th, 2009.
- The top 40 candidates with passing scores will continue on to the pump test.
- Assessment Center dates: April 13th through 24th, 2009
