Utility Non-Sewer - Swing Shift - Beehive Clothing SLC
About the role
This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. The incumbent operates machinery and basic cutting tools for synthetic and cotton goods, and has a good knowledge of the different styles of garments and the pattern pieces included in each. Works closely with the supervisor in overseeing all functions of garment packing.
Schedule
Swing Shift:
- Monday - Thursday: 2:30 PM - 11:45 PM
- Friday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Responsible for several thousand dollars worth of material on each spread; great detail must be taken to ensure accurate cutting of binding.
- Complete cutting orders as soon as possible.
- Perform work while standing, stooping, and walking for extended periods.
- Handle disruptions in workflow due to changing patterns and fabric shortages.
- Adjust working stock to ensure proper garment count when discrepancies occur.
- Resolve errors in bagging by working with other operators and/or supervisors.
- Perform preparatory work for material and supplies for sewing production.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Experience using power cutting tools (preferred).
- Capable of standing, walking, and bending for long periods.
- Frequently lift 30-50 lbs alone or occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment (preferred).
