Utility Locator Westchester

What You Will Do

Our Underground Utility Locate Technicians use computer utility maps and specialized equipment to find underground cables, pipes, and other underground utilities to prevent damages and ensure safety during excavation. This is a field-based role—you’ll be working outdoors and driving daily.

Pay & Benefits

• $20/hour and up (based on experience)
• Automatic hourly increase of $0.50 after 60 days of employment and then $0.50 after 180 days of employment

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Overtime and occasional weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Drive to job sites (50–200+ miles/day)
• Use maps and equipment to locate underground utilities
• Mark locations with paint/flags
• Communicate findings to crews
• Handle emergency calls (rotating schedule, if applicable)
• Drives to sites in response to routine ticket requests and emergencies
• Utilizes mapping tools and locating equipment to identify underground utilities including electrical cables, gas lines, telephone, and other communication lines
• Indicates utility locations using paint, flags, and communicates relevant information to excavation personnel or authorities
• Responds to after-hours emergency call-outs in accordance with the established rotation schedule if applicable

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with NO restrictions
• Comfortable driving long distances daily
• Able to work outdoors in all weather
• Able to walk 4–6 miles daily and lift up to 50 lbs
• Basic computer skills
• Willing to work overtime

Qualifications

• Underground Utility Experience is preferred but not required
• Utility Construction Experience is preferred but not required
• Outdoor work experience is preferred but not required
• Must have a positive attitude
• Must be able to use a computer
• Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment
• Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule

Physical Requirements

• Drive 50 to 150+ miles daily as required by assigned geographic locating area
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (4-6 miles) over uneven terrain
• Sit for long periods of time while driving
• Lift and/or move 50 pounds
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
