What You’ll Do Use a lap-top computer or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hoursRead and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilitiesUse assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilitiesOperate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limitsPerform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completedReceive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirementsOperate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearanceBe able to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devicesPerform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hoursRegular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and toolsReaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of timeAbility to carry 3-5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with tool aidsHearing and speaking to exchange informationThe employee shall follow all safety rules at all timesWill need to have the ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends) as ticket/production load requiresEmployee will respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation What You’ll Need You are at least 18 years oldYou have twelve (12) months or greater of verifiable direct utility locating experienceYou are authorized to work in the United States for this companyHigh School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience preferredValid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checkUpon employment, will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and company guidelinesProficient in the use of hand tools and equipment.
