Responsibilities
- Perform underground facility locates in accordance with company, state, and utility standards.
- Read and interpret maps, prints, GIS records, and work orders to determine utility paths.
- Use locating tools and equipment (e.g., transmitters, receivers, toners) to accurately mark underground utilities.
- Document all locate activities, including sketches, notes, photos, GPS data, and completed work orders.
- Respond to routine tickets, emergency locate requests, high-priority projects, and re-marks.
- Communicate clearly with contractors, homeowners, utility providers, and internal teams.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and company vehicles in proper working conditions.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA, 811 guidelines, and state One-Call regulations.
- Immediately report mismarks, damage risks, safety hazards, or potential service issues.
- Support team members and field operations as needed.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Experience in utility locating, construction, telecom, gas, water, or electrical preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of One-Call systems, 811 regulations, and underground utility infrastructure a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Exposure: Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
