Utility Lighting Helper

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of utility-owned streetlights.
• Capable of receiving and following directions
• Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit
• Support safety initiatives using personal protective equipment
• Able to setup work zone according to DOT standards
• Understands minimum approach distance, excavation, and shoring
• Basic understanding of tools and materials used in line work

Qualifications and Requirements

• Understands equipment and work site set up and grounding
• Accurately perform basic math calculations to include addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, and the use of measurements
• Proficiency in critical thinking, trouble shooting, and problem resolution
• Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and nonverbal)
• Requires self-motivation, organization, and prioritization management
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CDL A (preferred) or the ability to obtain

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk or hear
• Frequently required to stand; walk; climb; lift and carry up to 60 lbs, crawl, kneel, push and reach
• Use hands to fingers, handle, and feel

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
• Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
• Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
• Position is performed in outside weather conditions
