Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform all aspects of installation and maintenance of substation protective systems.
  • Supervise and perform all aspects of installation and maintenance of substation SCADA systems.
  • Supervise and organize emergency activities associated with the restoration of relay and/or substation equipment.
  • Provide field training to relay crews on a wide array of protective devices, schemes and philosophies.
  • Aid crews in performing relay and SCADA testing and commissioning.
  • Provide a professional point of contact for contractors, internal/external customers, and design groups.
  • Ensure compliance with Configuration Management and system protection regulatory procedures and processes.
  • Facilitate and support activities associated with the realization of departmental and company goals.
  • Assure a safe work environment exists and actively and progressively require safe work behaviors and actions from all assigned crews.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or related work experience.
  • 2-Year Technical Degree in electronics/instrumentation preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in electric utility industry.
  • 5-10 years' experience in electrical substation maintenance or construction preferred.
  • Able to work with little direction with a high level of organization to accomplish multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Available for 24-hour callout and extended hours.
  • Certified and able to perform substation switching.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card and a CDL driver's license.
