About the role

New England Utility Constructors Inc. (NEUCO) seeks a Utility Field Technician to join our team. Established in 1972, NEUCO specializes in pipeline and natural gas distribution construction. The position involves performing labor work such as excavating, trenching, shoring, and installing underground gas distribution piping systems, while also providing comprehensive training and support to crew members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform labor work such as excavating, trenching, shoring, and installing underground gas distribution piping systems.
  • Provide hands-on training and support to crew members to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to execute routine and complex tasks.
  • Leverage industry expertise and experience to serve as a mentor and coach to field employees and provide guidance and support to ensure safety, efficiency, and success.
  • Maintain and demonstrate all industry-required Operator Qualifications and Tasks.
  • Perform and demonstrate live gas connections, mark-outs and utility locating, premark proposed work, review customer work packets, and perform job walk-throughs.
  • Ensure crew awareness of potential risks or hazards and advise on minimizing risks.
  • Complete work using all field system application programs and provide hands-on training in software.
  • Ensure work complies with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations and provide guidance on meeting requirements.
  • Perform field tool calibration to ensure maximum tool performance.
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of experience in gas operations or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in relation to gas distribution and distribution system design.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of company, customer, and state and federal regulations on gas distribution.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check.
  • Valid DOT medical card.

Pay

$40.00 - $55.00

Schedule

Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions. All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English. Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling. Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment.
