Utility Equipment Operator
Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. About the role
The Asphalt Roller Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that works with the crew foreman with primary responsibilities of operating a roller machine to tamp down and smooth out the asphalt that has been laid, making sure the asphalt is smooth and level. The ideal candidate is familiar with rolling machines of different types and has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maneuver, and drive the asphalt roller machine.
- Inspect equipment before and after operating to ensure it is in good working order.
- Practice awareness of others working alongside the machines and exercise safety at all times.
- Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
- Assist with shoveling, raking, and handling other small tools as directed by the foreman.
- Clean and organize equipment to company standards at the end of each shift.
- Operate small power tools as needed.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
- Perform other duties as requested and assigned.

- 1 year (or under) of experience.
- Organized with a detail-oriented mindset.

Skills
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment preferred.
- Understanding of operations and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations is a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
- Available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
- Some travel may be required as operations span throughout Texas.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt exposure.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
