About the Role

The Utility Clerk or Sacker plays a crucial role in the daily operations for our Front-End Team. This non-exempt position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask effectively. The role involves sacking groceries, assisting customers, maintaining a clean shopping environment, and supporting team operations under the supervision of the Front-End Manager.

Responsibilities

• Obtain a liquor license and/or food handlers permit as required by the county within the first 14 days of employment.
• Assist with bagging groceries efficiently and accurately, complying with customer requests.
• Provide exceptional customer service: greet customers, ask about sacking preferences, and offer assistance to their vehicles.
• Know and practice Cosentino's Customer Service Standards or Red-Carpet Service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the sales floor, breakroom, check stands, and restrooms.
• Retrieve carts from the parking lot, ensuring they are clean and operational for customers.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Resolve customer inquiries or concerns; escalate to management when necessary.
• Follow Cosentino's rules regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and handling.
• Multitask effectively, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Prevent loss by checking the bottom of shopping carts for cashiers.
• Support the company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed, and gaining new skills.
• Complete ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• General mathematics skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Abilities

• Pushing and pulling grocery items and carts (up to a peak force of 25 lbs).
• Standing and walking for long periods on tile, asphalt, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
• Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs, to a height of 36 inches.
• Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level.
• Climbing a ladder, possibly up to 5 feet.
