About This Position

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix. The Water Services Department is seeking a Utility Billing Account Clerk III to join the Billing Customer Services Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive customer service support, including making outbound calls to notify customers of high water consumption or explain billing adjustments.
  • Review and resolve meter read exceptions by researching anomalies, verifying data, and making necessary billing corrections.
  • Perform a wide range of billing adjustments within the CC&B system.
  • Document work thoroughly by creating clear, concise, and accurate account notes to ensure complete and reliable account histories.
  • Apply utility billing policies and procedures to ensure proper and consistent account handling.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Bring strong analytical abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy within the Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) system.
  • Demonstrate Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Show Advanced computer proficiency.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume customer service environment.
  • Speak, read, and write in Spanish (preferred).

SALARY

Pay Range: $21.44 to $31.68 per hour. Hiring Range: $21.44 to $28.73 per hour. Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
