About the role

The Utility is responsible for all areas of meal clean-up and dining prep, assisting the Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Director in guaranteeing a high level of hospitality, service, and satisfaction for residents and guests by managing the dining room and kitchen clean-up service.

Responsibilities
- Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from the tables during mealtimes.
- Wash dishes and kitchen utensils, assuring highest standards of cleanliness.
- Eliminate stains from all utensils.
- Monitor the temperature of the dishwashing machine on a daily basis to ensure that the machine is operating properly. Notify the Culinary Director promptly of any unacceptable temperature readings.
- Remove from service all cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils that might be hazardous to residents. Notify the Culinary Director of damage.
- Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for use at the next mealtime.
- Under the direction of the Culinary Director, follow established methods of meal preparation and decoration.
- Set up tables and beverage station and refill all salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.
- As directed, assure all salads and desserts are properly portioned.
- Serve meals to residents promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner. Deliver meals to residents’ rooms as needed.
- Dispose of all trash in a proper manner.
- Clean dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift.
- Deep-clean kitchen on a monthly basis.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floor, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer each evening.
Requirements
- Six (6) months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred.
- Must have food handler’s permit as required by state and/or local authority.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ideal candidate will be caring, organized, and able to multi-task.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with residents, families, guests, and other associates in English.
