About the role

This position assists the Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Director in ensuring high levels of hospitality, service, and satisfaction for residents and guests by managing dining room and kitchen clean-up services.

Responsibilities

  • Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from tables during mealtimes.
  • Wash dishes and kitchen utensils, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Eliminate stains from all utensils.
  • Monitor the temperature of the dishwashing machine daily to ensure proper operation and notify the Culinary Director of any issues.
  • Remove cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils from service and notify the Culinary Director.
  • Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for the next mealtime.
  • Follow established methods of meal preparation and decoration under the direction of the Culinary Director.
  • Set up tables and beverage stations, and refill salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.
  • Ensure salads and desserts are properly portioned as directed.
  • Serve meals to residents promptly and courteously, including delivering meals to residents’ rooms as needed.
  • Dispose of trash properly.
  • Clean the dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift.
  • Deep-clean the kitchen monthly.
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen floor, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer each evening.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred.
  • Must have a food handler’s permit as required by state and/or local authority.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with residents, families, guests, and team members.
  • The ideal candidate will be caring, organized, and able to multitask.
