Utility Arborist

About the role

Oversees and participates in the tree program for the City of Nixa Electric Department, including work by either City crews or contractors employed by the City, for the safe limb and tree removal associated with the City’s electrical distribution system.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in tree trimming operations around overhead power lines.
• Supervise and manage a team of employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations related to tree care and electrical systems.
• Develop and implement tree management plans to minimize risks to the electrical distribution system.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and external contractors to coordinate projects and ensure timely completion.

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years direct experience completing trimming operations around overhead power lines.
• Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience or a combination of direct supervision over employees or contractors.
• Valid State of Missouri Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license.
• Possess and maintain International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist certification.
• Valid Missouri certification for the application of Right of Way (ROW) herbicides preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain ISA Utility Specialist Certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to obtain TRAQ Qualification (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) within one year of employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
