About the role
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) offers a research opportunity in collaboration with the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (NE CASC) in Amherst, Massachusetts. The opportunity is also available remotely.
Responsibilities
- Synthesize existing research and develop integrated approaches to landscape connectivity, biodiversity conservation, climate refugia, and nature-based solutions.
- Engage in collaborative discussions with regional partners.
- Apply ecological modeling approaches related to connectivity, climate refugia, and forest management practices.
- Participate in research activities such as synthesizing scientific literature.
- Collaborate on research synthesis and collaborative scientific dialogue aligned with the USGS mission.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or having received a master's or doctoral degree in biology, ecology, planning, or a relevant field of physical or social sciences.
- Excellent written and personal communication skills and demonstrated success in applied science.
- Preference given to applicants with experience in the Appalachian ecoregion.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Earth and Geosciences.
Skills
- Experience researching at broader scales.
- Demonstrated success in applied science.
- Experience in the Appalachian ecoregion preferred.
Benefits
Stipend ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 annually.
Pay
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 Yearly
Schedule
Full-time or part-time, depending on the participant's preference.
