Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Source used trucks and equipment through auctions, dealer networks, consignors, fleet accounts, private sellers, and customer trade-ins.
- Evaluate trade-in opportunities in partnership with sales teams by analyzing market value, reconditioning costs, transportation, auction vs. retail exit strategies, and margin impact.
- Provide timely, accurate trade-in valuations to support new truck sales, used truck sales, and retail transactions.
- Evaluate potential purchases by analyzing auction values, retail values, reconditioning costs, transportation, and expected margins.
- Develop accurate buy targets and bidding strategies to maintain established margin profiles.
- Attend live and online auctions and represent Custom Truck One Source in purchasing activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, finance companies, fleet managers, auction companies, and industry contacts.
- Partner closely with Used Truck Sales, UTF, Retail Sales, and Finance to align buying and trade-in decisions with demand, production capacity, and margin objectives.
- Determine optimal disposition strategies for trade-ins (retail resale, reconditioning, auction, or wholesale).
- Track market trends, pricing shifts, trade-in performance, and inventory turns to continuously refine valuation and buying strategies.
- Maintain detailed records of purchases, trade-ins, costs, and projected margins.
- Ensure all purchases and trade-ins meet company standards for quality, compliance, and resale potential.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in used truck, heavy equipment, fleet asset purchasing, or trade-in valuation.
- Strong understanding of auction markets, wholesale pricing, retail resale values, and trade-in economics.
- Proven ability to analyze costs, margins, and risk to make disciplined buying and valuation decisions.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and inventory management systems.

Physical Requirements
- Sit, walk, and climb to move about the facility and equipment.
- Work between an office and plant environment with varying degrees of temperatures and noises.
- Occasional travel is required.
Working Conditions
- Works both indoors and out.
- Moves about the facility and lot to communicate with the branch & shop managers and other employees.
