About the role
The Retail Used Firearms Outfitter evaluates and purchases used firearms, ensures proper acquisition into the bound book, and processes payments to customers. This role delivers legendary customer service by assisting customers with merchandise selection and firearm transactions in compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, appraise, and purchase used firearms using firearms knowledge and resources.
- Acquire firearms legally in accordance with ATF, state, and local laws, including:
- Completing ATF-required forms.
- Handling applicable state forms for background checks.
- Certifying and screening firearm transfers for legality, including compliance with waiting periods and straw purchase prevention.
- Ensuring error-free completion of all company forms.
- Maintain visual and operational standards, including restocking, remerchandising, cleaning fixtures, and general housekeeping.
- Perform opening and closing duties, ensuring proper facing of firearms tags.
- Participate in ongoing training, including firearms product information, compliance, and selling skills.
- Assist customers in making buying decisions by identifying needs and providing product recommendations.
- Handle customer issues using good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Communicate benefits of company programs to customers.
- Travel locally to purchase used firearms outside the store.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Ability to safely handle firearms.
- Knowledge of purchasing firearms through industry experience or collecting.
- Understanding of retail operations and basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with current firearms models.
- Ability to appraise and determine the marketable value of used firearms.
- Strong work ethic and multitasking ability.

- Light work involving lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
