USAC Procurement Sr Specialist, Filling & Chemical Services

About the Role

As a USAC Filling & Chemical Services Senior Specialist, you will play a strategic individual contributor role within Procurement, supporting complex category spend across Filling and Chemical Services within Third Party Services. You will help shape sourcing strategy, lead supplier negotiations, drive cost and cash savings, and strengthen supply resilience across multiple 3M businesses and divisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead category strategy and strategic procurement activities for Filling and Chemical Services within Third Party Services across USAC.
• Drive cost reduction, working capital improvement, supplier consolidation, and supply resilience initiatives that support global category and Procurement goals.
• Serve as a key procurement contact for assigned suppliers, supporting supplier selection, negotiation strategy, performance improvement, and long-term relationship development.
• Lead complex sourcing projects and negotiations involving business allocation, supplier management, dual sourcing, external supply options, and category strategy execution.
• Support successful new product introductions by aligning supplier capabilities, cost structures, timelines, and commercial requirements with business needs.
• Identify and implement practical, cost-effective solutions for complex supplier and supply chain challenges.
• Develop strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, Business/Division teams, Finance, and Supply Chain Operations.
• Analyze procurement data, market dynamics, supplier performance, and cost drivers to identify opportunities that improve service, speed, cost, and overall value.
• Support and negotiate supplier agreements that may include formula-based pricing, Tier II transparency, feedstocks, indices, and other complex commercial models.
• Advance procurement digitalization and process optimization by leveraging automation, data analytics, pricing tools, SAP, and AI-enabled 3M tools to improve sourcing efficiency, decision-making, and supplier performance.
• Act as a subject matter resource for assigned categories or sub-commodities including Tier II, providing guidance to business partners and supporting alignment with sourcing best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business (completed and verified prior to start).
• Ten (10) years of combined experience in manufacturing & supply chain, sourcing, procurement, or engineering in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Ten (10) years of combined experience supporting or leading supplier negotiations, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, and cost savings initiatives in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Skills

• Experience in Procurement, especially with contract manufacturers, third-party manufacturers, chemical services, production sites, mining, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting complex supplier relationships with a long-term strategic view.
• Strong negotiation, contracting, supplier management, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive progress in complex or ambiguous situations.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data, supplier information, and business needs into actionable sourcing strategies.
• Ability to influence without direct authority and collaborate effectively across functions, levels, and geographies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Financial acumen and comfort working with cost models, pricing tools, contract management systems, SAP, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools.
• Proactive, adaptable, and resolution-oriented approach to business challenges.

Work Location & Travel

This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Maplewood, MN office. Travel may include up to 10% domestic/international. Relocation assistance may be authorized.

Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $145,676 - $178,049, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
