About the role
The Software Engineer III position involves leading the design and development of scalable software solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with product, project management, and user experience teams to develop high-level designs for small to medium projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve business and production issues through root cause analysis and coordinated action plans.
- Translate project requirements into technical solutions, conduct coding, unit testing, and ensure timely delivery.
- Support business users by providing technical guidance and identifying sustainable solutions.
- Mentor and guide small engineering teams, including offshore associates, to meet project goals.
- Implement and maintain coding standards, automation scripts, and telemetry features.
- Monitor application performance, conduct maintenance, and evaluate change requests.
About the team
The team develops the Tire & Battery iPad application used by Sam’s Club associates to enhance member service in Tire & Battery Centers. They emphasize collaboration and continuous improvement, leveraging technology to drive impactful results across numerous clubs.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery within Agile environments.
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming and coding languages such as React Native, JAVA, JavaScript, Python, or C#.
- Expertise in debugging, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and automation scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure.
- Skilled in test case creation, execution, and defect management to ensure high-quality software.
- Demonstrated capability to lead small engineering teams and collaborate cross-functionally.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
