About the role

Walmart is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable ML solutions that address complex business challenges. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement, test, and maintain ML models and pipelines while ensuring compliance with security and governance standards. The successful candidate will lead technical efforts across the ML lifecycle, including feature engineering, model evaluation, deployment, and monitoring, driving innovation and upholding high standards of quality and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CV scientists, data scientists, and product teams to deliver machine learning pipelines and model integrations.
  • Design and develop scalable ML systems using appropriate algorithms and frameworks.
  • Implement, test, and support ML services, APIs, and data pipelines ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Apply MLOps practices including CI/CD, model versioning, and automated retraining for sustained performance.
  • Conduct rigorous model evaluation, monitoring, and maintenance to address drift and performance issues.
  • Mentor team members on coding standards, pipeline best practices, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Ensure ML solutions comply with security, privacy, and enterprise governance standards.
  • Participate in technical discussions to enhance system scalability, maintainability, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in designing, developing, and deploying scalable machine learning pipelines using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages including Python, SQL, Java, C++, or R for production-ready ML applications.
  • Experience with MLOps practices including CI/CD, model versioning, automated retraining, and telemetry to ensure model reliability and performance.
  • Ability to implement secure, compliant ML pipelines adhering to enterprise AI governance standards.
  • Skilled in model evaluation, hyperparameter optimization, and monitoring to maintain accuracy and performance.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and platform design for ML solutions; NVidia Deepstream architecture is a plus.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, AI systems, or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, AI systems, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 1 years' experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, AI systems, or related area.
  • Prior work experience in accessibility best practices.
  • Prior work experience in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

The amount of PTO depends on job classification and length of employment and meets or exceeds the requirements of paid sick leave laws where applicable.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.
