Position Summary

Maintains and tracks medication inventory, supports facility operations, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and policies.

What you'll do...

  • Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight, restocking, and replenishing medication in appropriate locations, reporting low stock levels, ensuring stock rotation, and monitoring prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals.
  • Supports facility with reporting and paperwork to ensure productivity and pharmaceutical integrity by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data on systems and forms, processing and submitting paperwork, creating and maintaining documentation, and preparing reports of pharmacy activities and inventory.
  • Promotes and maintains the pharmacy’s professional reputation by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies, handling claims and returns, completing, maintaining, and securing paperwork, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Fulfills pharmacy prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist in an automated central fill pharmacy, using scanners to identify and select pharmaceutical products, verifying sizes and strengths, displaying for packaging, weighing medication for accuracy, counting or pouring medication, preparing packages, and distributing medications in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Maintains quality accuracy and integrity of inventory by utilizing automated inventory control scanners and systems to track and ensure timely and appropriate delivery and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies, adhering to and documenting inventory control procedures, auditing and testing pill cell performance, and managing pill cell information databases.
  • Troubleshoots issues with pill cell performance, identifies and properly discards hazardous waste, processes recalled and expired pharmaceuticals, and manages return of outdated stock for credit.
  • Maintains pharmacy systems and technology by preparing informational and related records and reports to ensure accurate data, monitoring inventory levels and expiration dates, calibrating machines, applying settings to pill or capsule specifications, and troubleshooting pill cell issues during production.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, using the Open Door Policy, and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources, collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners, identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations, carrying out tasks, communicating progress and information, determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities, and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician Career Diploma through Live Better U and Penn Foster.
