Position Summary
As the Director of Data Science for the Walmart Data Ventures Tech team, you will lead the development and deployment of production-grade, end-to-end supplier-facing AI systems. You will spearhead high-impact initiatives across generative AI, agentic intelligence, and machine learning to power our advanced insights platform.
What you'll do
Own E2E AI Systems: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle, from research to production deployment, of sophisticated AI systems supporting different Scintilla product lines.
Drive Technical Innovation: Scale advanced capabilities in generative AI, agentic intelligence, B2B recommendation platforms, measurement and causal inference to solve complex enterprise retail challenges.
Lead and Mentor: Champion a high-performing culture, managing and mentoring a talented team of data scientists, machine learning engineers and software engineers.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with product, engineering, UX and business leaders to align the AI roadmap with overarching Scintilla strategies and supplier needs.

The Walmart Scintilla team transforms extensive data into actionable insights, recommendations, and innovations that enhance customer, merchant, and supplier outcomes. This team leads advancements in generative AI, agentic intelligence, machine learning, measurement, and causal inference to redefine retail experiences, optimize operations, and develop new business models.

Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Data science, machine learning, optimization models
PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics
Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
Supervisory experience
Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch)

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 in Bentonville, Arkansas US-09158 and $169,000.00 - $338,000.00 in Sunnyvale, California US-11657. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
