The (USA) Director, Automation Engineering leads the development and implementation of advanced automation solutions in Transportation Engineering. This role will lead a team focused on yard modernization to automate and enhance transportation yards. Walmart’s Transportation Engineering team leads innovation in one of North America’s largest private fleets, focusing on zero-emissions technology, autonomous systems, and yard modernization. The team integrates automation, infrastructure, and large-scale operations to develop and deploy advanced fleet technologies. Collaborating with internal and external partners, it advances solutions from concept through scaled deployment, ensuring operational efficiency and financial viability. What you'll do
Lead the design, implementation, and integration of advanced automation systems to optimize supply chain processes.
Develop business cases and strategies to move forward transportation automation initiatives.
Manage cross-functional programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering measurable return on investment.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop long-range automation plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee testing, monitoring, and performance evaluation of automation equipment and systems.
Communicate complex technical information clearly to various teams and influence actionable outcomes.
Foster a culture of operational excellence through process optimization and systems thinking.

Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
Option 2: 7 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area. 3 years’ supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate: Computer Engineering, Masters: Computer Engineering
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include : Stock
