As an Associate Designer, Fashion, you will contribute to the development of high-quality apparel by applying foundational design principles, including sketching, illustration, and color theory. You will support the creation of prototypes and presentations that align with brand standards and seasonal trends. Collaborating across teams, you will leverage digital tools and market insights to enhance design accuracy and efficiency. Join a dedicated team at Walmart focused on delivering sophisticated, trend-driven kids’s fashion through the Kids Private Brands. The team collaborates to develop refined, market-relevant collections that inspire and engage customers. Leveraging expertise in fashion design, creative tools like Adobe Illustrator and Miro, and a strong understanding of market trends, the team supports the entire design process from concept to prototype. Members contribute to maintaining brand consistency while embracing continuous improvement and innovation to meet business goals and customer expectations in a dynamic retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the creation of fashion sketches and presentations to communicate design concepts effectively.
• Assist in selecting materials, colors, and prints that align with brand standards and seasonal themes.
• Develop basic prototypes and samples using design and product lifecycle management tools.
• Apply knowledge of fit, fabric performance, and aesthetics to contribute to garment development.
• Utilize digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems to complete design tasks.
• Participate in trend research and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet product development timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

• Proficiency in fashion design principles, including sketching, illustration, and color theory.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with digital design tools such as PLM and CAD.
• Understanding of fabric selection, print execution, and prototype development aligned with brand standards.
• Ability to interpret market trends and cultural signals to inform design direction.
• Knowledge of seasonal design workflows and product development timelines.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of fit concepts and garment construction.
• Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement within design operations.

Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, textile design, or related area and 1 year’s experience in apparel design, garment construction, or related area.

Option 2: 3 years’ experience in apparel design, garment construction, or related area.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $96,000.00 - $186,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.
