Urology Physician
Position Summary
The Department of Urology at UMass Memorial Health, the clinical partner of UMass Chan Medical School, offers physicians an extraordinary opportunity to work in a high volume academic surgical practice. This hospital-based position is dedicated to the surgical and inpatient management of urologic conditions, delivering urgent and emergent care for hospitalized patients and providing surgical consultations in both the emergency department and inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and emergency department urology consultations
- Perform intra-operative consultations
- Manage urgent and emergent urologic procedures and surgeries (e.g., obstructing stones, gross hematuria, testicular torsion, urologic trauma, urinary retention)
- Provide comprehensive care for hospitalized urology patients, including post-operative management
- Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists, emergency medicine physicians, and surgical subspecialists
- Participate in surgical quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- May supervise or mentor medical students, residents, or advanced practice providers
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Urology
- Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills
- Comfortable managing high-acuity urologic emergencies in a hospital-based setting
