About the role
We're looking for English and humanities enthusiasts to join our Cedar Park teaching team. If you're a degreed professional, a current or retired teacher, or a grad student with a flair for grammar and literature, this is a chance to teach without the stress of a full-time classroom. You'll work with students one-on-one or in small groups of up to four on critical reading, essay writing, grammar, and SAT/ACT Verbal. You focus on the student; we handle the logistics. All of our teachers train on the Huntington Learning Center program first, so you'll also work with younger students on reading, writing, and K‑5 math. If you only want to teach SAT/ACT prep, this isn't the right fit; if you like teaching across ages, you'll stay busy year-round.
Benefits
- Paid training on the Huntington method and the digital SAT/ACT Verbal sections
- Curriculum and materials provided; prep time is paid
- No lesson planning at home — arrive before each session to get set up
- No parent meetings, billing, or scheduling — directors handle all of it
- Consistent weekly schedule built from your availability
- Part-time and full-time administrative roles are filled from our teaching team for those interested in growing with us
Responsibilities
- Teach reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and essay structure to middle and high school students
- Prepare students for SAT Reading & Writing and ACT English & Reading
- Teach Learning Center sessions in reading, writing, and K‑5 math, one-on-one or in small groups
- Keep brief session notes on each student's progress (training provided)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong command of grammar, essay structure, and reading analysis
- Ability to connect with teenagers and explain concepts clearly
- Comfort teaching K‑5 math (number sense, fractions, word problems) — training provided; you don't need to be a math person, just willing
- Reliable transportation
- Availability for at least 2 of the shifts above, every week
