About the role
The Senior Veterinary Assistant at UrgentVet - Cypress plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, team leadership, and client service in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art urgent care clinic. Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding patient care, including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring
- Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculations
- Assist with facility maintenance and client education
- Multi-task in a hands-on environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Support patient care, respond to time-sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and ensure the safety and well-being of patients, clients, and staff
Requirements
- Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
- Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
- Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Full-time employees may be required to travel for on-site training and onboarding
- Prior customer service experience
- Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
Qualifications
- Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring
- Basic understanding of animal anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology
- Ability to follow hospital policies and procedures
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic computer skills
