Urgent Care Senior Veterinary Assistant

About the role

The Senior Veterinary Assistant at UrgentVet - Cypress plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, team leadership, and client service in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art urgent care clinic. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the community while working alongside a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding patient care, including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring
• Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculations
• Assist with facility maintenance and client education
• Multi-task in a hands-on environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Support patient care, respond to time-sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and ensure the safety and well-being of patients, clients, and staff

Requirements

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Full-time employees may be required to travel for on-site training and onboarding
• Prior customer service experience
• Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs

Qualifications

• Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring
• Basic understanding of animal anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology
• Ability to follow hospital policies and procedures

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic computer skills
