Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant- Per Diem

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience to join our team. Our urgent care Advanced Practitioners provide a wide range of clinical services, including treatment of acute episodic conditions, and function in lieu of or alongside physicians to recognize and manage more serious conditions.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants, Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
• Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required
• Licenses/Certifications: National Certification, Active state medical licensure

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
• Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
• Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
• Preferred: Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records, Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills, Strong communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions

• Examining and treating patients
• Taking patients’ medical histories
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
• Educating and counseling patients
• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
• Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care

Additional Information

Per Diem employees must be available to work 3 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job.
