Job Summary
Maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair UPS systems, batteries, and related critical infrastructure equipment at customer sites. Perform preventive maintenance, equipment testing, battery installation/replacement, and emergency service calls. Work independently with daily travel to customer locations; overnight travel and 24/7 on-call availability required (with allowed off-call weekends).
Interface directly with high-profile government, institutional, and commercial customers, ensuring professional communication and presentation.
- Utilize and maintain company-issued tools, safety equipment, vehicle, laptop, phone, and credit card.
- Complete required documentation, including Field Service Reports, Expense Reports, and technical records promptly and accurately.
- Cook up and supervise subcontractors on-site as needed.
- Perform inspections, maintenance operational checks, failure analysis, and repairs on UPS systems and associated controls.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, applicable codes, and company procedures.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, and cross-training to customers and other technicians.
- Attend product-specific and safety training as required by the company.
- Maintain operational expertise with various test instruments (e.g., digital multi-meter, power analyzer, infrared camera, insulation tester, battery test equipment, oscilloscope).
- Maintain technical documentation and stay current with manufacturer procedures and certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs, work at heights, and perform routine physical tasks; must observe all safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- AA/BS in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent experience, minimum 5 years' experience with UPS systems and electrical devices.
- Strong technical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of NEC, maintenance, and quality control procedures.
- Must maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and be able to attend company meetings and training.
