About the role
Trevor Day School is seeking a full-time Upper School Biology Teacher and Advisor for the 2026-27 academic year. Candidates should be prepared to teach classes to students in 9th through 12th grade, including advanced coursework. Science classes are highly interactive with a focus on inquiry-based learning. Students are challenged to think critically and independently, consider alternative explanations for events, and solve problems creatively. Students acquire scientific literacy through guided discovery, cooperative learning, and investigation of real-world issues.
All Trevor teachers serve as advisors and participate actively in the daily life of the school. For qualified candidates, there is also the possibility of serving as the Science Department Chair, a role that involves departmental leadership and curricular oversight.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver lessons that challenge and inspire students.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
- Use technology to enhance classroom learning, including familiarity with AI as a teaching and learning tool.
- Design authentic assessments that encourage original student voice and ensure academic integrity.
- Form strong, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development.
- Participate actively in the daily life of the school as an advisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching biology.
- School leadership experience preferred (e.g., Science Department Chair).

Pay
The full-time salary range for this position is $75,000–$150,000. When extending an employment offer, Trevor Day School bases the salary on several factors, including (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
