Upper Elementary ELA Teacher

About the role

A day in the life:

• Plan and deliver targeted English language arts and social studies instruction to two classes of six to eight students in 4th and/or 5th grade with learning differences.
• Communicate with colleagues and parents to provide an exceptional experience for all families.
• Engage in the continuous pursuit of lifelong personal and professional development and reflection.
• Observe, analyze, and pivot based on the needs of kids.
• Record, synthesize, and report progress in both formal and informal ways.
• Provide support to kids in the form of social coaching.
• Have fun teaching and learning—must love kids.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required; teacher certification preferred.
• Three to five years of relative classroom experience required.
• Comfort in teaching a range of grade levels and content areas.
• Experience working with diverse learners.
• Knowledge of learning differences and the ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom based on those needs.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
• Analytical approach to curriculum, instructional methods, and students.
• Flexibility as it relates to classroom management, pacing of curriculum, and student expectations.
• Compassion for students, parents, and colleagues.
