About the role
The UTM FSR will support UTM operations and low-altitude airspace management at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), FL. The role involves providing on-site technical expertise to ensure the effective operation, integration, and sustainment of UTM systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, operate, and maintain UTM systems and supporting infrastructure at MacDill AFB
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues to ensure continuous operational availability
- Support integration of UTM platforms with external airspace services (e.g., flight authorization systems, Remote ID, weather, and airspace data feeds)
- Assist with real-time airspace coordination, including deconfliction of cooperative UAS operations and dynamic airspace management
- Cook with government personnel, airspace managers, and UAS operators to ensure safe and compliant flight operations
- Provide technical reach-back support and interface with engineering teams for issue resolution, system updates, and capability enhancements
- Develop, maintain, and update system documentation, configuration baselines, and operational logs
- Deliver user training and assist in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Support integration and coordination with air domain awareness and C-UAS systems, as required
Requirements
- Experience with UAS and Counter-UAS systems
- 3–7 years’ experience in flight test engineering, UAS testing, or aerospace system validation
- Strong experience with data analysis, data correlation, and visualization tools
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Experience with technical documentation and test reporting
Qualifications
- Experience with UTM platforms, UAS Service Suppliers (USS), or digital airspace management systems
- Familiarity with integration of UTM with air domain awareness and C-UAS systems
- Knowledge of RF systems, sensors, or aviation surveillance technologies
- Experience supporting DoD, USAF, or installation-level operations
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification
- Experience with system documentation, configuration management, and version control processes
- Exposure to MBSE or Digital Engineering environments

- Knowledge of low-altitude airspace management concepts and UTM architectures
- Ability to analyze system performance and diagnose technical issues in real time
- Strong problem-solving skills in dynamic, mission-critical environments
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for coordination across diverse stakeholders
