Unix System Programmer

About the role

This is a Unix System Programmer position requiring in-office work 3 days per week. Candidates must be local to New York or Alpharetta for a required face-to-face interview.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Unix-based systems and server environments
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and security hardening
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or other tools
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support application deployments

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Unix System Programmer or similar role
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems (e.g., Solaris, AIX, Red Hat)
• Experience with system configuration, backup, and recovery
• Familiarity with networking concepts and security protocols
• Ability to work on-site in New York or Alpharetta 3 days per week
• Must be available for an in-person (face-to-face) interview at the office location

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, LPIC, Solaris certification) are a plus
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
