EducationFull-time

Responsibilities

The chair-holder is to represent the subject of “Pharmacognosy” or “Pharmaceutical Biology” in its entirety, both in research and teaching, with a focus on the isolation and characterization of pharmacologically active natural substances. It is expected that the professorship will set new research priorities and establish innovative research approaches, which will allow the faculty to establish new key research areas, among others via cross-faculty and/or cross-university collaborations. The research area should tie in with one or more of the cross-faculty focal points of the faculty or the “Centre for Molecular Biosciences Innsbruck (CMBI)”. This includes, but is not limited to, the molecular basis of (patho)physiological processes and their modulation by active substances. Close collaborations or the willingness to cooperate with the other pharmaceutical core subjects (pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical chemistry and clinical pharmacy), chemistry and related research fields of the university, and the Michael Popp Research Institute (“Phytopharmacology” and “Plant Biotechnology”) are highly welcome.

Employment Requirements

  • A degree in higher education in Austria or the equivalent abroad, pertinent to the position;
  • Pertinent habilitation or comparable qualification;
  • Outstanding scientific qualifications in research in the field of pharmacognosy/pharmaceutical biology, proven by publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals;
  • Evidence of involvement in international research and subject-related experience abroad;

  • Experience in raising third-party funding;
