The University of Illinois Board of Trustees seeks a visionary leader to serve as the President of the University of Illinois System. Reporting directly to the Board, the President will guide the System towards innovation and excellence.
About the Role
The President will oversee three leading universities—Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, and Springfield—and work collaboratively across System Offices. The ideal candidate will possess strategic vision, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the System
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing educational quality and student success
- Strengthen partnerships with industry, government, and communities to support economic development
- Ensure alignment and effectiveness of System-wide operations
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and the broader community
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., education, business, public administration)
- Proven track record of leadership and management in higher education or related fields
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay
The budgeted salary range for this position is $950,000 to $1,500,000. Final salary will be determined based on market data, internal equity, qualifications, and budget constraints.
