University Mental Health Counselor

Kutztown University's Counseling Center is seeking full-time licensed mental health professionals for the 2026-2027 academic year. This temporary, non-teaching position provides short-term counseling services to undergraduate and graduate students in a team-oriented setting within the student health center, reporting through the division of Student Affairs.

About the role

Counselors utilize a solution-focused model to deliver in-person services on the Kutztown University campus. The Counseling Center operates Monday–Friday with varying hours between 8:30 AM–7:00 PM; candidates must be available to work until 7:00 PM on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Responsibilities

• Provide solution-focused individual and group counseling
• Conduct risk assessments and emergency interventions
• Provide clinical supervision of graduate counseling students

Requirements

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
• Unencumbered Pennsylvania licensure as an LPC, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist (no LSW, LMFT, or LAPC)
• Minimum of three years’ professional experience providing counseling to young adult populations
• Demonstrated cultural competency through work with individuals and communities of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of various abilities, faiths/non-faith, ethnic backgrounds, and other diverse populations
• Commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in a clinical setting as a licensed counselor
• Previous experience providing counseling services in a university counseling center
• Experience with crisis intervention and management
• LCADC/CAADC certification and experience completing drug and alcohol assessments
