Universal Direct Support Professional

About the role

The Arc Jefferson St Lawrence is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist in coordinating the people we support in various programs, promoting independence, integration, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing household equipment and personal finances
• Provide guidance and instruction in cleaning and maintenance
• Support in arranging leisure activities and transportation
• Document fire drills and communicate person's supported needs
• Participate in staff meetings and crisis intervention
• Implement and document ADL, interpersonal skill, and behavioral support programs
• Administer medications as directed and maintain certification
• Report and monitor person's medical status
• Write incident reports and ensure safety and welfare
• Document service plans and perform daily observations
• Complete cleaning logs and physical plant checklists
• Act as designated in charge in absence of the Residence Manager

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Experience working with the Developmentally Disabled preferred
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds
• Valid New York State Driver’s License
• Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Pay

The starting rate for sub positions is $16.00/Hour, with a wage range of $18.00-$21.85/Hour based on education and experience.

Schedule

Must work a minimum of 8 weekend hours/month and a minimum of 1 agency observed holiday/year.
