About the role

Under the supervision of the Boiler Shop Supervisor or his designated alternate, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all boilers and associated equipment. Operate high pressure steam and hot water boilers, pumps, valves, regulators, steam traps, pipefitting, cleaning and painting. Contribute to a team effort and harmonious working relationship with others in the Engineering and Facilities Department and throughout MUSC. Maintain continuity between individual job assignments. Perform work in a most efficient and safe manner. Perform related and non-related duties as required by the Boiler Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• 10% - Clean and paint boiler room, pumps, valves, and lines, ensuring work area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
• 30% - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all boilers to include all safety devices; open all boilers for cleaning and inspection; perform preventive and corrective maintenance on steam, water, air, oil, and gas valves (1/2 inch to 8 inches
