UNIV - Staff Scientist III - Department of Biochemistry

Job Duties

• Develop an independent research project in consultation with the PI
  • Design and implement in vitro experiments to assess lipid alterations impacting drug sensitivity
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory records
  • Present results to PI in individual and group meetings
  • Draft and publish results in leading scientific journals
  • Work closely with PI to develop research grant proposals
• Perform in vivo experiments to assess drug efficacy and differential biology in prostate cancer
  • Lead in vitro and in vivo testing of novel inhibitors
  • Orthotopic models of prostate cancer and bone orthotopic models of metastasis
  • Perform pK studies, urological surgeries in mice, and various modes of drug delivery
  • Conduct necropsies and collect tissues from primary and distant organs
• Training and supervision of technical staff, graduate students, and other laboratory personnel
  • Mentor students
  • Develop written protocols of experimental techniques
  • Advise and assist junior members of the laboratory on experimental approaches
• Lab Management
  • Oversight of daily lab needs, activity, and budgeting
  • Maintain databases of laboratory reagents, cell lines, and order supplies

Physical Requirements

• Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift
• Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift
• Infrequent - 0-2 hours per shift
