UNIV - Research Specialist I - Department of Medicine: Division of Rheumatology
for section headings like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We must include only sections with real content.
We need to parse the job description.
First, there is a "Job Description Summary" paragraph: MUSC’s Division of Rheumatology and Immunology is a premiere academic center... The group’s clinical research effort... The Research Specialist plays a vital role... The position will support the Division’s biorepository and clinical research operations by coordinating biospecimen management, data entry, and quality assurance activities. The individual will manage biospecimen inventory and metadata within laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and institutional databases, ensure accurate linkage between biospecimen records and physical storage locations, and facilitate specimen retrieval and distribution for research studies. Responsibilities include coordinating biospecimen processing workflows, supporting investigator requests for samples, maintaining compliance with biosafety and human subject protection standards, and assisting with freezer monitoring and biorepository infrastructure operations. The position will collaborate with investigators, study coordinators, and institutional partners to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant biospecimen management in support of translational research programs.
That is a prose description; could be "About the role" or "Job Summary". Use About the role
and
... content. Then "Job Duties:" with percentages: 30% – Biospecimen Data Management and Tracking: ... 25% – Biospecimen Processing, Storage, and Distribution: ... 20% – Biospecimen Quality Control and Data Verification: ... 10% – Biorepository Infrastructure and Freezer Monitoring: ... 10% – Research Coordination and Stakeholder Collaboration: ... 5% – Compliance, Training, and Administrative Support: ... These are duties; we can put under
Responsibilities
with- each duty.
We need to preserve all substantive info; include percentages and details.
Then "Preferred Experience, Knowledge, And Skills" list: bullet points (actually sentences separated by periods). We can put under
Skills
orQualifications
. The instruction says use headings like Qualifications, Skills. We have both "Preferred Experience, Knowledge, And Skills" and "Minimum Requirements". So we can haveQualifications
for minimum requirements (education/experience) andSkills
for preferred experience/knowledge/skills. Also there is "Physical Requirements" and "Additional New Requirements". Those could be part of Qualifications or maybe separate? But we only create sections if there is real content. Physical Requirements is substantive; we could include under Qualifications or maybe a separate section like "Physical Requirements". But the allowed headings list does not include Physical Requirements; we could still usePhysical Requirements
if we think it's needed, but instruction says usefor section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It says "e.g." meaning examples, not exclusive list. So we can add other headings if needed. However they say "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So maybe incorporate physical requirements into Qualifications or Requirements. We also have "Additional New Requirements: Ability to work rotating shifts as required. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required." Could be part of Qualifications. Also there is a line: "If you like working with energetic enthusiastic individuals, you will enjoy your career with us!" That's fluff; maybe we can drop as it's not substantive? It's not boilerplate but could be considered filler. Probably we can omit. EEO statement etc should be removed. Pay Rate Type Hourly Pay Grade University-GEN06 Pay Range 37,944.00 - 49,266.00 - 60,690.000 Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Work Shift We have Pay and Schedule info: Pay Range (min-mid-max) and Scheduled Weekly Hours 40. Also Work Shift (blank?). So we can create
