About the role

The Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) and Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) seek an outstanding cancer population scientist to serve as a member of our faculty and help advance cancer prevention and population sciences research. Qualified applicants will be considered for a tenure track Assistant Professor position.

Responsibilities

• Continue to develop their own research projects
• Work on public health and cancer center initiatives
• Aid in developing extramural grant applications in collaboration with other public health and cancer center investigators
• Mentor and train junior faculty at both DPHS and HCC
• Participate in DPHS’ graduate training programs

Requirements

• PhD/MD or equivalent

Qualifications

• Training in medicine, epidemiology, public health, informatics and data science, nursing, psychology, anthropology, behavioral science, behavioral economics, health services, health economics, communication, decision sciences, sociology, or other related fields
• Areas of interest include cancer research related to precision population health, health communication, molecular or genetic epidemiology, implementation science, community-based research, early detection and screening, telehealth, health services and policy research, shared decision making, health promotion/health behavior, and symptom management

• Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
• Good peripheral vision capabilities
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
• Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements
