About the role

Guard and protect the United Nations Development Corporation (UNDC) and the Condominium and its property against explosives. Cooperate with Building Security personnel in case of acts of terrorism, fire, theft, pilferage, malicious injury, damage, or destruction. Conduct routine patrols, inspections, and investigations at UNDC and the Condominium as mutually agreed upon. Permit only authorized deliveries of items—including furniture, equipment, mail, packages, luggage, food, and people in possession of said items—to enter the premises after proper screening. Participate in trainings on evacuation planning and disaster recovery planning in conjunction with UNDC, the Condominium, and building management on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Assists with operational administrative duties.
  • Participates in trainings with UNDC, the Condominium, and building management, including partnering with adjacent buildings, their management, local law enforcement, and other organizations to ensure a clear and effective communication program.
  • Participates in crisis management planning exercises designed to test the responsiveness, effectiveness, and readiness of the UNDC’s and Condominium's Crisis Management Team.
  • Assists local emergency responders with all medical and other building emergency conditions. CPR and AED certification required.
  • Carries out all daily duties as defined in K-9 Post Orders and as directed by building, UNDC, and Condominium management, including:
    • Inspecting all vehicles, packages, mail, and people before allowing entrance to the Three United Nations Plaza loading dock.
    • Assisting the loading dock security officer in the operation of the loading dock security barrier.
    • Maintaining a visible presence at the entrances of One, Two, and Three United Nations Plaza during shift.
    • Inspecting all items intended to enter One, Two, and Three United Nations Plaza and The One United Nations Plaza Hotel.
  • Becomes and remains familiar with UNDC's and the Condominium's emergency procedures and evacuation plans, and instructs personnel, tenants, and visitors on evacuation during emergencies or training.
  • Conducts a quarterly review and update of Post Orders and Rules of Conduct to ensure up-to-date and efficient operations, including:
    • Reporting and communication protocols.
    • Normal and emergency operating modes and responsibilities.
    • Frequency, focus, and methodologies for conducting site tours and inspections.
    • Training requirements for K-9 Handlers.
    • Evacuation, disaster recovery, and crisis management protocols.
    • Emergency response protocols and contact information.
    • Public relations and dispute resolution guidelines.
    • Incident investigation protocols and reporting requirements.
    • Recordkeeping procedures.
    • Loading dock and delivery procedures.
    • Parking and traffic management protocols (if applicable).
    • Visitor management and identification procedures (if applicable).
    • Contractor and construction protocols.
    • Property Pass procedures (if applicable).

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' presently active experience as a law enforcement agency K-9 Handler, or retired law enforcement agency K-9 Handler, or minimum of four (4) years' experience as a United States Military K-9 Handler.
  • K-9 team must be certified to detect conventional and peroxide-based explosives in accordance with the standards of the North American Police Work Dog Association and the BATFE National Odor Recognition Test.
  • Minimum of fifty (50) hours documented K-9 Team specific annual/refresher training.
  • Experience working at a similar site and must meet all listed training requirements.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks required of the job, including standing or walking for entire shift, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying objects, and running.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English at a level readily understood by the average native English speaker, with a minimum equivalent of a high school diploma or GED in the United States.
  • Successfully passed a 10-panel drug screening test at the Contractor's cost.
  • Submitted to and passed a Stanton Survey personality test or equivalent acceptable to UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Submitted to a background investigation, including a full criminal records check, fingerprint search, and comprehensive employment and education verification covering all jurisdictions of residence and work.
  • Submitted a minimum of ten (10) years' employment history.
  • Submitted a minimum of two (2) Neighborhood References verifying term of residency, general character, and suitability for a position of trust.
  • Submitted character references verification.
  • Registered Security Guard as per the New York State Department of State "Security Guard Act of 1992."
  • US citizen or valid US work permit.
  • CPR and AED Certified.
  • Free of a criminal background or record of conviction other than minor vehicle/traffic violations.
  • Free of personal credit defaults within the past three (3) years without qualified disclosure satisfactory to UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Maintain good health and personal hygiene.
  • Ability to hear ordinary conversation.
  • Binocular vision correctable to 20/30 and free of color blindness.
  • United States high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least twenty-two (22) years of age.

Pay

$36.00/hour USD
