About the Role

As our Unit Coordinator, you will be a vital caregiver and the central hub, assuming responsibility for patient care processes from newborn to geriatric for a designated time frame. You will directly contribute to safe, therapeutic patient care while serving as the primary receptionist and secretary. Every day you will support safe patient care through multidisciplinary processes and coordinating unit activities. You will efficiently manage information flow and assist healthcare team members in delivering care across all patient age groups.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive approach to managing day-to-day operations, and a commitment to providing safe, therapeutic care while working effectively with the entire healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains the patient record accurately and in proper chart order; files appropriate reports in the patient chart; maintains patient confidentiality by monitoring appropriate chart access.
  • Assists with scheduling procedures and arranging transportation for patients as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates skill and knowledge in electronic documentation system and in the manual order entry system when the computer system fails.
  • Coordinates unit operations to support and enhance patient care delivery by ordering and maintaining supplies for the unit and by completing/updating appropriate unit records.
  • Supports hospital/nursing department/unit standards and operations.
  • Communicates effectively with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, patients, families and visitors utilizing knowledge of and demonstrated skills related to interpersonal relationships and communication styles appropriate to the individual's uniqueness and age.
  • Provides a safe and healthy environment for patients, families, visitors and the interdisciplinary treatment team by utilizing knowledge of proper body mechanics and infection control standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or High School GED.
  • Previous clerical experience in acute care.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
  • Must possess computer skills including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (including Gmail and Google Sheets).
  • Must complete quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary in an acute care setting.

Pay

$32.02 - $32.02/hour
