About the role

The Unit Supervisor provides leadership that embodies Everstand core values and works to maintain a Trauma Responsive Environment. The Unit Supervisor is versed in Everstand’s Theory of Change and implements Everstand policies and procedures to support a safe and nurturing treatment environment. The Unit Supervisor effectively works as a leader on the interdisciplinary team and provides coaching and support to Youth Care Professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and implement evidence-based practices selected by the organization, which may include attending on- or off-site training, committing to delivery of the practice as expected by Everstand, following practice guidelines with fidelity, and engaging in fidelity monitoring.
  • Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing Everstand’s behavior management and therapeutic crisis intervention techniques.
  • Promotes effective communication through the timely submission of documentation and weekly team meetings.
  • Serve on the Interdisciplinary Care Team for each youth served and work collaboratively with various internal and external partners.
  • On a rotating basis, provide effective campus supervision by fulfilling campus supervisory responsibilities at least once per week; this can include overnight and/or weekend shifts.
  • Develop daily individualized structure that is tailored to meet the unique needs of a high acuity population, consistent with the age and level of functioning of each resident.
  • Promote life skills programming to assist youth towards stabilization and self-regulation as a primary outcome.
  • Incorporate a menu of evidence-supported group modalities aimed at teaching youth the relational, stress tolerance, and impulse control skills needed to be successful in a lesser restrictive environment into the daily programming for the unit.
  • Ensure that the staff-to-resident ratio is adequate and consistent with Everstand policy and unit needs. Provide coverage / be part of ratio as necessary to maintain the stated ratio.
  • Ensure accurate medication administration, documentation, and safe storage of medication in accordance with the guidelines of the State of Maryland’s Medication Administration.
  • Provide support and accountability to Youth Care Professionals through modeling and coaching, frequent guidance sessions, and progressive discipline as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

Provides effective supervision to Youth Care Professionals to ensure that childcare direct care services are consistently provided based upon Everstand’s treatment philosophy, mission, practices, and policies.

Work Environment

This job operates both in a treatment environment, as well as a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets. In the nature of being at a residential and school living environment, there may be times you experience conditions in which challenging behavior can be exhibited from youth, including but not limited to physical agitation, physical violence, and/or emotional outbursts.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are dependent on the operational need and confirmed by the program supervisor. Each supervisor is expected to work 2 later evening shifts per week and 2 partial weekend days per month. This position is eligible for a flex schedule, per Everstand Policy and Procedures. This position is essential for inclement weather events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1 year of supervisory or management experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in a related field with 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a related field.
  • One year of experience in providing direct services to children/youth and families.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to pass RCYCP certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass TCI certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass CPR/First aid certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to demonstrate the possession of a valid driver’s license prior to employment and ability to maintain the license and operate a motor vehicle thereafter.
  • Ability to pass CPS/UII background check both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a Tuberculosis Screening both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a work-readiness physical performed by a certified medical professional both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a Federal and State Fingerprinting Background Check both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen via urinalysis both prior to employment and randomly thereafter.
