About the role

The Unit Secretary performs secretarial, clerical, and non-professional basic nursing functions as assigned in accordance with all hospital policies. This includes maintaining all medical records, facilitating communication departmental activities, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe orders
• Order unit supplies
• Answer phones and patient call lights
• Prepare patient charts
• Enter patient charges into computer
• Assist with coordinating patient transfers
• Coordinate with hospital Pharmacy and Laboratory in support of patient care
• Maintain all appropriate regulatory logs
• Participate in chart audit process of the department

Requirements

• High School education or comparable knowledge
• No prior experience required
• Public contact and clerical experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills and computer skills required
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple functions preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems

About the facility

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services. We offer:
