Unit Secretary Labor and Delivery
Our Labor and Delivery Unit at Butterworth Hospital is a fast-paced procedural unit, similar to a surgical environment. With 28 beds, 11 triage bays (including 5 prep & recovery bays and 3 ORs), we average 8,000 births per year.

About the role
The Unit Secretary serves as the primary clerical support for the unit, acting as the "go-to" resource for staff and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Sanitize and turn over rooms between patients
- Manage phone calls and assist with traffic flow into/out of the locked unit
- Provide wayfinding directions to visitors and external team members (lab, radiology, patient transport, nutrition services, environmental services)
- Page overhead and call support as directed by clinical staff
- Assist with discharge, admit, and transfer charting within EPIC
- Order supplies and ensure rooms are appropriately stocked
- Answer call lights for non-direct patient care needs
- Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple requests from various teammates
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire
- 2 years of related experience preferred

Schedule
- Full-time, day shift (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- 36 scheduled hours per week
- Variable days worked
- Every other weekend required
Primary location: Butterworth Hospital – 100 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids, MI (Women Infant Services Unit – OB Delivery 2C/3C).
