Unit Secretary (Full Time)
About the role
As a Unit Secretary in a hospital setting, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication and administrative operations within the unit. This position requires strong organizational skills, diligence, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality. Your role is integral to maintaining effective communication and coordination within the healthcare team, enhancing patient care delivery and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including scheduling appointments and managing call volumes
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and staff to ensure timely and efficient patient care
- Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring they are available for patient needs
- Provide administrative support to healthcare professionals, including data entry and report generation
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience using computers and computer systems to enter data, or process information
- Prior clerical experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and HIPAA regulations preferred
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical office administration.
Experience: Prior experience using computers and computer systems to enter data, or process information. Experience in working with the public; customer service.
Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
