Status: Full-Time, Hourly • Evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) • Monday – Friday with every other weekend and holiday

Pay Range: $21.14 per hour

About the role

As a Unit Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing team while helping create a welcoming, organized environment for patients, families, and visitors. As the central point of communication for the nursing unit, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure information flows accurately and efficiently, so patients receive exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, families, visitors, and physicians while providing exceptional customer service
  • Answer telephones, call bells, and intercoms, directing requests to the appropriate team members
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining accurate patient information
  • Enter physician orders and update patient records using electronic medical record systems
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain reports and unit documentation
  • Support the daily operations of the nursing station by maintaining supplies and ensuring an organized work environment
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient experiences

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous clerical, administrative, or customer service experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment
  • Previous experience as a Unit Clerk, Unit Secretary, or in a hospital or medical office setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, physician order entry, and healthcare documentation is preferred
