Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department 3 PST Stepdown Job Family Nursing Support Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary Provide clerical services to maximize the functioning of the unit. Maintain responsibility for telemetry emergency phone. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Greet patients upon admission by introducing themselves and welcoming patient to the unitIntroduce self to patients daily with face-to-face contactIdentify the patient by using name and date of birth to include checking medical records that accompany the patient and patient armbandAct as receptionist and greets hospital staff and visitorsInitiate, receive, and deliver telephone messages related to unit activitiesMaintain patients’ charts on assigned unitsOrder and maintain adequate supply levels on unitAssume responsibility for answering the telemetry emergency phone and pass responsibility if leaving the deskFiles telemetry strips in a timely manner in the location predetermined by the floorSet up assignments in Responder system, answers call lights, and sets services as necessaryDemonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput, and hospital capacityOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education And Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of medical terminology course preferred Work Experience 1 year Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Physical Requirements Ability to work at computer/monitor for long periodsAbility to remain calm under emergency situationsSits for prolonged periodsAbility to communicate verballyAuditory and visual acuity to accurately perform job functionsPosition may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material Required Licenses And Certifications Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
