Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 / Year

About the Role

Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Unit Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership for one of our nursing units. This is a visible, hands-on leadership position for an RN who can bring structure, accountability, sound clinical judgment, and consistent support to a nursing team. You will partner closely with the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to strengthen nursing practice, employee performance, and resident outcomes.

You will have meaningful accountability for your unit but will not be expected to lead without support. Lakeside’s nursing leaders benefit from onsite partnership and the broader clinical resources of Elderwood Administrative Services.

Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport is a 120-bed skilled nursing community offering long-term and memory care, subacute rehabilitation, IV therapy, and orthopedic, cardiac, post-surgical, hospice, and palliative services. This clinical variety gives the RN Unit Manager the opportunity to strengthen nursing practice, develop employee competencies, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and build meaningful relationships with residents and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour oversight of your assigned nursing unit.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop nursing staff — with a strong focus on CNA support and performance.
  • Set clear expectations for care delivery, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans.
  • Monitor clinical indicators and proactively address resident needs.
  • Ensure high standards in documentation, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for families and providers.
  • Communicate changes in condition and care plans clearly and professionally.
  • Address concerns and support service recovery when needed.
  • Manage daily staffing, call-ins, and scheduling needs.
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and staff development.
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure quality and environment standards are met.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
  • Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care setting.
  • Prior leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Supervisor) required.
  • Strong ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable.
  • Experience working with CNA teams and developing newer staff.
  • Confidence in handling family communication, clinical oversight, and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience with dementia population strongly preferred.

Benefits

As RN Unit Manager, you will work primarily on a generally day-shift schedule, with flexibility based on facility and unit needs. You will work closely with the Director of Nursing, ADON, Administrator, and interdisciplinary team. Facility clinical teams also receive support from Elderwood Administrative Services, including organization-wide clinical leadership from the Chief Nursing Officer and an assigned Regional Nurse Consultant.

Nurses who demonstrate strong performance, leadership potential, and an interest in future Director of Nursing opportunities may be considered for advanced development experiences, including Widener University’s Director of Nursing Leadership Academy. The 12-week academy combines online learning, leadership coaching, faculty mentorship, and in-person applied workshops, addressing communication, decision-making, team development, retention, financial fundamentals, strategic planning, and change management.
